With the development of electronics, reliability of electronic products becomes more important in commerce and armament. RET(reliability enhancement test) which grows from the 90s of the 20th century is the main method to enhance products' reliability. For RET is immature and still in qualitative research all over the world, the design of a concrete RET is sometimes blindfold. This thesis will research the vibration fatigue failure mechanism of a through-hole electronic component in RET based on mature computer simulation technology, and analyzes the guidance effects of this research on RET. The thesis consists of:1. The FEM(finite element model) of the component is set up whose dynamic response is analyzed by FEA(finite element analysis) and tesified by experiment. The structural errors' effects on dynamic characteristics of model are also discussed. By this way, the vibraion fatigue cause of the component is discovered and optimized excitation band for RET is provided.2. To solve the problem that the vibration fatigue theory can't be applied to RET for plasticity, this thesis develops a method that plasticity is equivalent to damp, which can solve the problem well according to simulation and tests. The simulation life can be used to optimize load and duration for RET.3. The dynamic characteristics of RS(repetitive shock) machine is analyzed to be neither stationary nor Gaussian. To estimate the multi-axial vibration fatigue life of the FEM by present vibration fatigue theory, the method that the load of RS machine is equivalent to stationary and Gaussian load based on the same damage to the component is brought forward, which is proved by simulation and tests. Also the failure mechanism of the component under multi-axial load is exposed.By above research, a method that computer simulation technology apply to RET is set up, which enhances RET weightily. Also, the methods that plasticity is equivalent to damp and original RS machine signal to stationary Gaussian signal complement fatigue theory.
