Currently, the accumulation speed of biology related data has greatly exceeded people's expectation. Integrated analysis method need to be improved to provide services for the collection, storage, and process of various biological information, and to deal with the biological problems collaboratively and interactively. Since network technology can effectively link the autonomous resources or systems and realize resources sharing, some work and calculations can be done collaboratively and jointly and thus accordingly elevate the capability to process vast biological information. Besides, the wireless network (wireless computing environment) with the properties of mobility and flexibility can provide the biological scientific research with high value-added solution. Our research background is to build up a bioinformatics service platform based on Agent technology. The platform is supposed to provide stable and reliable services such as to search and integrate information from remote biological database, to do online interactive research work, and to use self developed models and tools. The application to various terminals is also in our range of discussion. Oriented to these requirements, this article studies the following four key technologies: (1) an effective communication mechanism to support the complex and flexible coordination strategies; (2) an asynchronous migration mechanism to realize the information searching from remote biological database on a wireless computing environment; (3) how to make use of the model technology to manage quantitative models built up during the research process, such as the Z-Curve visualization analysis model of SARS gene sequences and HBV gene sequence analysis model based on CA (cellular automation); (4) collaborated multi-media browse service for multi-device and multi-user so as to support the seamless online scientific research.First of all, the thesis proposes the architecture of the platform. The system architecture, model composition and design idea have also been given. The module functions and related technology and services are demonstrated in detail. In order to support the platform to realize flexible strategy, we design the interior structure of Agent to support the message-based communications; Using FIPA ACL, we design BISCL to regulate the communication criterion for biological information services. We use RMI-IIOP technology as the protocol of message transportation; we give detailed metadata expression based on XML, the potent load of BISCL communication and expression of envelop.Considering that the platform services are also for wireless computing environment, we propose the asynchronous migration strategy of the Agent in theplatform. Combining the security mechanism of JVM, we design wireless security authentication of the platform mainly for the migration authentication and the authentication and detection of local resources after migration. We give application details on the example of Agent searching and computing of data from remote data resources of Genbank.Strong efforts are given to the discussion of MBS' design. The design of the model dictionary, the running of MBS ( Modelbase system) and its models, and the realization of MBS have also been studied. The method based on MBS provides an effective way to realize the flexible and extendable services for bio-informatics.Afterwards, the frame and functions of the collaborative browse have also been demonstrated in detail, including the procession of the service, the specifics of design, and a realization paradigm. The feasibility of the scheme has been proved in this part.Last but not least, the article discusses the practical development of bioinformatics based on Agent, and gives out the major system modules and the performance evaluation result of the prototype, the sequenced migration mechanism, and the realization of MBS and collaborative browse have also been given. More services can be realized and expanded on the basis of the platform.
