With the exponentially growing amount of information on the Internet, theinformation retrieval systems on the Internet-search engines become the maintools to help people get information from the WWW. However, the search engines produce many problems. The search engines return too much result ,people are more and more difficult to find the information they want really. So the paper mainly focuses on the efficiency of search engine and how to provide users what they want faster and more exactly.This paper analyzes the information Retrieval systems from the angles of system structure,classifying web pages and user profiles. This paper also includes the work as follows:1. Analying the information retrieval systems on the WebAnalyze development and trend of information retrieval systems on the Web, and gives introduction about key technology and relevant knowledge. Based on this, some deficiency of search engine is analyzed, such as how to provide users what they want from so much information,the feature word combines with classifying web pages to information retrieval.2. Advancing the structure of personalized information retrieval based on Web Introduce the concept of the personalized information retrieval at first, then describe the key technologies realizing the personalized information retrieval. Using ontology for reference, this paper advances a scheme based on feature word with classifying web pages, bring the existing information retrieval based on keyword aspect up to the information retrieval based on knowledge (or the concept), can improve information retrieval efficiency greatly. From user and resources angle analyse,structure a concrete personalized information retrieval system ,finally. An personalized information retrieval system includes two basic components: collection , arrangement system and support system of user information (user interest), namely organize , classifiy and recommendation of Web resources.3. Advancing a new representation of user profiles and corresponding filtering algorithm based on Static Optimal Search TreeHow to provide users what they really want faster and more exactly is the development focus of information retrieval systems. The solution lies in the obtainment and representation of user profiles, a representation based on Static Optimal Search tree is discussed. On the base of this representation, documents filtering algorithm is presented and analyzed. This representation can benefit Web filtering efficiency and decrease the waiting time of users.
