| In order for compressed digital video to be reliably transmitted over networks, we have to solve the following problems:1) BandwidthTo achieve acceptable presentation quality, a streaming application typically has minimum bandwidth requirement. However, the current Internet offers only the best-effort service and does not provide any bandwidth reservation mechanism. And the wireless channel suffers from both bandwidth fluctuation and bandwidth limitation.2) Packet loss and transmission errorIn the wired link of a mobile network or the Internet, most errors are caused by packet loss due to congestion or misrouting.3) Heterogeneity problemsThere are many differences in bandwidth and delay characteristic between different networks. But non-scalable video coding technology can not solve this problem. To solve the above-mentioned problems, this paper proposes a multiple descriptionscalable video coding scheme based on 3D wavelet. It consists of several parts: 3Dwavelet transform, scalability,MDSQ of base layer, entropy coding and so on.Consequently, it is able to address all the previously mentioned problems by combiningthe advantages of MDG and scalable coding. |
