With the arising of motive network techniques of the third generation (3G) and the forth generation (4G) and the quick development of IP telecommunication technologies, the necessary environment have been given for transmission of multimedia information, and the applications of multimedia communication greatly developed. This paper deals with the implementation of video communication terminal in wireless environment. Techniques for integration and optimization of source codec are discussed in order to realize the real-time video communication over various processors. On application-specific processors the codec is optimized in structure and instructions level according to the environment. And on general-purpose processors, several methods are proposed to implement the transplant and optimization of H.263+ arithmetic according to the requirement of video coding arithmetic and the technique characteristics of embedded systems. And then the integration implementation of MMS (Multimedia Message Service) system is carried out. On base of those works a practical and transplantable wireless video communication terminal comes true. At the last, techniques of a new standard H.264 are discussed for application in wireless video communication system.
