Knowledge of the near-field distributions of laser diodes is of great importance for control of the process used to produce high beam quality laser diode.Based on a new theory of dealing with propagation of off-axis light wave developed by X.Zeng and the optimization method we develop a new method to determine the near-field distribution of laser diodes.In this paper we describe the far-field error arising from the perturbation of the source in detail. We derive an inverse model, which can be easily used to solve the inverse source problem rigorously with the far-field measured data. We use a local optimization method and the far-field data to determine the near-field distribution. Its improved form is developed.Finally we propose some suggestions to improve the method.
