Active Power Filter (APF), which has good dynamic performance in high efficiency and small size, is the valid equipments to substitute the passive LC filter. Now the passive LC filter is primarily equipment that used to compensate the distorted current produced by nonlinear load. Along with increasingly extensive application in electric power device, APF s are demanded increasingly and applied in many fields.Shunt active power filter applied in family or architecture for electric power distributed compensate is introduced in the thesis. Its algorithmic design process, design ideas and hardware platform are represented. The thesis mainly discusses how to make use of a neuron adaptive circuits detect distorted current. How to use embedded system based on FPGA for performance, cost, volume and power dissipation is discussed in system design. How to use modern DSP technology and advanced EDA software to design a System On Programmable Chip (SOPC) is discussed mainly in software design. A shunt active power filter prototype has been design based on an ALTERA Cyclone FPGA, and early experiment proves that it is valid.
