| The network intrusion detection system plays an important role in the network security domain. This article studies how to carry out the performance evaluation of the network intrusion detection system. Therefore, I have conducted the research to the network intrusion detection system technical background as well as with the network intrusion detection related main method of attack and the method, then esearched the factors affecting test target NIDS proposed by some research organizations. Give analysis to the factors including examination accuracy, processing performance, completeness, tolerance and timeliness. In the test technology and the method research, I has carried on the simulation to the detection ability test, the usability test, the performance test and the secure test emphatically and so on four aspects, carried on confirmation of the credibility to the tested results by the experiment.
