Based on high-speed DSP TMS320C6211 and PCI bus, a high-speed image data acquisition system is presented in this thesis. A thorough study of the hardware design using DSP as the main processor and the optimization of software design has been made. This system can detect the vehicle which is red light runner quickly and accurately by analyzing the video image.This system is designed based on the general architecture of image data acquisition system. It is made up of an analog image data acquisition and conversion module, an image processing module and an interface module. The first module is used to acquire analog image data and convert the data to digital signals. The second module is used to apply image detecting algorithm and catch the red light runner. The third module is used to exchange data between DSP and PC. In the paper, the design theory of circuit and the EMI&EMC existed in the circuit are discussed in detail, and then the optimization of software programming about the hardware is introduced. There are three good functions in the system: firstly, it is a real-time system based on the high executing speed of DSP and compatible programming; secondly, it is miniaturized and high integrated, all functions are achieved by a small PCB; thirdly, it is a universal hardware platform for a kind of image processing cases.
