High power solid-state lasers have several advantages. The wavelength in the IR can be transmitted by fiber. The peak power can be produced and the system is rather compact easily. So the solid-state lasers are of major interest for applications in laser processing. In order to increasing output power, amplifier stages, two-rod (multi-rod) resonators and other methods are adopted. So the dynamic stable characteristics of the two-rod (multi-rod) connection high power laser are investigated systematically. The paper includes the following aspects:(1) Introduction. The state of the development and research on the high power solid-state lasers are mentioned in the part. Then the main content and purpose of the research in this dissertation are given as follows.(2) Thermal effect of Nd:YAG laser. The thermal effect and it affect on output beam are analyzed. Some thermal effect decrease and compensation methods are mentioned.(3) The characteristics of thermal effect resonator. Stability of resonator with thermal lensing inside is discussed by optical transmission matrix. The fluctuation range of thermal focal distance affects the laser power and the beam quality. which is analyzed in this part. At last design methods of resonator are achieved.(4) The analysis of multi-rod connection resonator. On the basis of resonator theory, the operation characteristics of two-rod resonator are researched.(5) System design and experiment research. Experiment research and design of laser system are given for two-rod connection laser. And the expected goals are achieved.
