As the development of computer network and the widely usage of Internet technology, distribute technology and distributed system were born. Distributed file system can help resolving the problem between slow I/O and fast computing ability of the computer system. But they can't support the entire request for reliability, flexibility, convenience, and high performance, no matter the traditional distributed file server system or the Internet based distributed file server system. This dissertation analyses the current research statement and disadvantage for distributed file server system, and then studies on the theory and technology of the high performance and flexible distributed file server system, and introduces the implemented real system in usage.Two mainly types of centralized file server are introduced at the beginning. Some kinds of distributed file server are introduced later. Some of them is developed centralized file server, but some of them is based on the distributed file system. Then the disadvantages for current distributed file server system are shown, such as the poor Java performance, the unsupported dynamic deployment, the difficulty for application integration, and the difficult for account management.Then the function requests for performance and flexibility of distributed file server are given due to the disadvantages. A lot of useful methods to implement these requests are discussed in the next part of the 3rd chapter.The technology detail for some solution is shown in the 4th chapter. They are intermittently used file cache system, adapter for file transfer protocol module, file storage module and data filter module, and the half-grid network with heartbeat control for dynamic sub-server deployment.The realized file server system that implements above features is introduced in the 5th chapter. Some testing for the file cache system is taken to approve the high performance of the new system.Finally, all of the works in this dissertation are summed up, and their futures and are prospected.
