The Mobile Detect Vehicle System (MDVS) is a hi-tech product developed by Institute of Image & Graphics, Sichuan University, which is mainly used for vehicle detection and traffic control. MDVS is based on real-time embedded system -- QNX, whose touch screen and graphic interface can offer good transaction for users. Once a vehicle-licensed-plate is recognized in the application of this system, its information is gotten quickly from local database so that the problem can be dealt with in time. Further more, data transformation of user database is realized in the way of USB storage which is also used in updating daily data needed by query and programs. The USB can offer many advantages for data transaction and data collection, which is more available and more economical than the traditional transfer method. Windows OS and Linux OS can support USB effectively, but real-time QNX system can not support USB. The design and implement of USB protocol based real-time QNX are studied in the paper. At the same time, the specialities of USB driver module and the hierarchy and the algorithm of USB protocol are introduced in detail. The content of paper includes three parts: First, the development and the content of USB protocol, the background and the actual need of the project are introduced; Second, the realization of the USB driver program on Windows OS is described; Third, the specialities of QNX OS and the realization of the USB driver on QNX OS are discussed.
