UML-based MIS System By Designing Institute Of Chongqing Iron & Steel Group

With the advancement of Hi-tech and the intensive competition of designing market, it is urgent for the whole trade to improve management efficiency so as to enhance the competitiveness.UML is a well-defined, easily expressed and powerful modeling language, blending new ideas and new technologies in software engineering to meet the need of pliable research mode of software. Based on the need of engineering practice, this paper deeply explores and carries out researches on the construction of MIS of prospecting designing institutes, and ways and key issues of developing MIS. It consists of the following parts: 1. It analyzes the characteristics of prospecting industry and the current situations of information management systems. After studying the directions of information system in prospecting industry, the essential functions of MIS are put forward. Comparing several research methods of MIS systems and taking its characteristics into account, the developing of UML-based MIS system is suggested. 2. After a brief introduction of UML, the paper studies the models of UML, i.e. static model and dynamic model. Detailed process description is given to set up static model. Using case is the basis of UML and an indispensable factor. This paper studies the regulations of using case, proposes the way and procedure of obtaining using case model, and suggests the scale of the using case model of this project.3. The iterative exploitation and using case drive are important features based on UML construction methods. The paper describes the process of setting up UML model, studies the cases used in different phases of analyzing, designing, implementing, configuring and testing, and then explains the approaches of exploiting using case drive.4. As for the permanent storage related to UML, relation database is still the widely recognized storing method, which will be the case in the relatively long period. Therefore, the focus of this paper is to study UML and relation database mapping method. The principle of mapping class to relational database is proposed. It describes the process of mapping attribute and identity. The mapping way of Relationships should be taken into account while considering class mapping. It elaborates the mapping principle and method separately to the associations, inheritance and aggregation relationships.5. This paper is associated with the MIS project of Chongqing Iron & Steel Group Design Institute. With MIS system as the core and basis, and contacts and projects management as examples, it fully explains the procedure of UML system construction, and analyzes the transforming way of class diagram and relation data bank. The result of this project is of practical significance which is worth promoting and advocating in other institutes.
