Bluetooth is a new technology on wireless data and audio communication in short distance, which features convenience for use, high-dependability, low cost, and low power. It fits connecting peripherals to computers and setting up personal area network. Bluetooth has been given abroad attention immediately as soon as it was brought forward. The members of the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) includes nearly all the great corporations those are well known in communication, network, IC, peripheral and software industries in the world. This indicates Bluetooth will be apply broadly in the future and has a great latency market.The device is researched that can add Bluetooth function to computers conveniently, that is the Bluetooth module with USB interface. This aims at changing the status that computers can't communicate with Bluetooth devices at present. The structure of hardware and software and the scheme are researched. The design is completed with CSR's BlueCore2 chip. The test of HCI command and data communication is also completed on the USB transmission layer.The design relates to the part under HCI, includes radio, baseband, LM and HCI. The hardware is composed of radio unit, baseband controller, link manager, and USB and HCI firmware. The host software deals with HCI packets and USB driver. Firstly, the Bluetooth protocol is analyzed. It is made clear to set up link and exchange data packets. Secondly, the USB protocol and USB transmission layer are analyzed. The USB system and communication process are plain. Thirdly, the design scheme is given and the detail of the hardware and software is completed. Finally, the test is completed with the point-to-point experiment.
