Along with the information expanding of the Lab Information System (LIS), the traditionary Client/Server frame can't fulfill the increasing requirement for information service. At the same time, the Browser/Server frame based on web technology represents strong life force. It divides the Server to one database server and one or more application server (or web server). These constitute a three-tier or multi-tier browser/server system, which improves the measure of information share and service greatly.Leading with analyzing the functional requirements, this paper discusses the application of web technology to LIS, and then gives a whole LIS framework design, in which focuses on the choice of application server. In order to achieve the bottom support to this system, struts framework is selected. This research accomplished the real function modules of check appointment and check report query, especially emphasized on the function design and realization of business logic tier.In the course of applying the web technology to LIS, security control and management of LIS must be considered seriously. This paper provides two corresponding solutions: one is role-based access control, the other is effective security management to network system, network data and network users.
