Vector sensor is compounded of pressure sensor and particle velocity sensor. The research of the combined method of acoustic pressure and particle velocity had reached its climax in 1990s last century. The Fourier transform of the combined of acoustic pressure and particle velocity is cross-spectral. The ratio of the intensity of cross-spectral can be used in target bearing estimation.The paper is discussing the hardware and software realization of cross-spectral founded on the vector sensor buoy tracking system. The main researching content is the mathematical deducing of cross-spectral algorithm; Application of high speed Digital Signal Processor (DSP); The realization of Fast Fourier Transform(FFT). The output model of vector sensor, vector sensor cross-spectral estimation and target bearing estimation are given. The paper focuses on the hardware design of vector signal processing module and the software realization of cross'spectral algorithm.We design the vector signal processing module by using Digital Signal Processor as the calculative core, using external memory and analog-to-digital converter as the peripheral. All above enable the vector signal processing module became a relative independent subsystem. The realization idea of Fourier transform by using the method of time selection had been discussed deeply.In testing with underwater target simulator, the cross-spectral algorithm is verified, validated.
