This dissertation takes wireless communication as the research direction and studies the field strength propagation prediction in mobile communication. In mobile communication system, the quality of service and the capacity of the system are determined by the cell coverage which can be obtained from the field strength propagation prediction. Under the ground of synthetically analysis of numerous existing propagation methods of developed for various radio environments, this dissertation presents an adaptive coefficient prediction algorithm and gives the calculation process with genetic algorithm.Up to now . all methods about field strength prediction can be classified into two kinds. They are the deterministic method and the statistic method. The computational cost of the deterministic method is so higher that it can almost not be used in the practical environment. The statistic method can be applied easily in mobile communication but at the same time its mean error is too large. In this dissertation, considering the practical environment in mobile communication and aiming at the demand of computation complexity and accuracy, we present a new algorithm based on self-adaptation theory which improves calculation precision of the propagation prediction. And taking the adaptive algorithm as foundation, we adopt genetic algorithm to implement the propagation prediction and give the process of iteration.In the dissertation the frame of the adaptive algorithm and the process of the genetic algorithm are illuminated in details. The result of experimentation shows that both of the algorithms discussed above are effective in propagation prediction. The performance of the adaptive coefficient algorithm is quite good from the viewpoint of accuracy. And the genetic algorithm has ameliorated the computation complexity.
