In the late period of the Qing Dynasty, the Chinese nation encountered the unprecedented challenge of culture and crisis of the nation unwillingly, but our nation began to step into the course of modernization while we went through the humiliation and pain. Liang Qi-chao was an important person who was bom in this period and he was the person who was carrying forward the revolutionary cause pioneered by our predecessors and forging ahead into the future. He was not only an important politician who persisted in pursuing the truth of saving the country learning from the western and devoted himself to reform, but also he was an initiate thinker and a distinguished scholar, he also was a famous theoretician in the fields of the press, and at the same time he is a considerably disputed person.The thesis first tries to analyze Liang Qi-chao's the political thought through the commentary of his practices of running a newspaper and the thought of news, the purpose of this is that to evaluate his activities of running a newspaper and their influence fairly and hope that it can gain a good enlightenment to today and in the future. The thesis can be divided into three parts.In the preface, the writer introduces the characteristics of the late period of the Qing Dynasty, the whole life of Liang Qi-chao, then puts forward the own view of the writer and tell the significance of this thesis.The main body of this thesis has three chapters. In Chapter One, the writer introduces the political thought of Liang Qi-chao, which makes the basis of commentary on his activities and thought on the press. In Chapter Two, the writer makes us known the career of running a newspaper of Liang Qi-chao, and describes his career of running a newspaper for 27-year in history to show that he is the most highly productive and the most influential writer of his time. In Chapter Three, the writer presents Liang Qi-chao's thought of news in a systematic and comprehensive way, such as the opinions of functions of the press, the understanding of freedom of news, the supervision of the media, the theory of Party's newspaper and so on, then make an objective evaluation for them.The writer draws a conclusion at the end of this thesis to point out therelationship among Liang Qi-chao's running a newspaper and thinking of news and political thought, that is to say, his thinking news is an expression of his political thought; and his running a newspaper is an effective way and a powerful tool to realize his political thought, his running a newspaper plays an important role in promoting the social change of modern times and accelerating the collapsing the Qing Dynasty and enlightening the thought of that period.
