In recent years, with the rapid development in computer networks and wireless communications technologies, the mobile IP networks have more and more come to our attention. Especially there are many kinds of real time traffic in Internet nowadays (such as audio and video). Providing QoS in mobile IP networks has become a hotspot of research. But it is very challenging because of the characteristics of mobile IP networks, such as, low wireless bandwidth, rapidly changing topologies and the interference in the wireless channel, etc. In order to provide better quality of service, the thesis researches mobile IP together with QoS models, such as IntServ and DiffServ. Various schemes that have been raised for supporting mobile QoS are discussed in this paper. The characteristics of those schemes are analyzed and compared with each other. Then a new QoS/Mobility model is proposed, which combines mobile IP, IntServ and Dynamic Neighbor Resource reSerVation Protocol (DNRSVP). And DNRSVP is the kernel of the model, which based on RSVP and designed for using in mobile IP environment. On the basis of the model, we also design and implement a new resource reservation system, which is called the Dynamic Neighbor Resource Reservation System (DNRRS). We analyze theoretically that the DNRRS is effective to solve the mobile QoS problem. We also use many data charts that are based on simulation experiments to support our ideas. We can conclude that the DNRRS can provide better quality of service in mobile IP networks. Finally the development trends of mobile QoS and topics for further study are discussed.
