With the development of Internet and wide use of wireless handsets, more and more attention is paid to Mobile IP. While authentication and registration in Mobile IP are the key for Mobile IP to proceed. This dissertation focuses on the security in Mobile IP registration, in order to ensure the validity of user identity, and what service user requires. Following are the main result of this thesis:A timestamp-based registration protocol is presented according to current solution to the security in Mobile IP registration. Both public-key mechanism and timestamp are used for entity authentication. Private-key mechanism is used by mobile node to achieve mutual authentication between itself and home agent, in the case that mobile agent's computational power is limited.By combining Authentication, Authorization, Accounting (AAA) and Mobile IP, an integrated scheme is proposed according to the authentication and registration in Mobile IP. The scheme realizes the incorporation of authentication and registration. Key distribution among mobile node, foreign agent and home agent is also achieved in the scheme. In addition, public key and symmetric key operations are employed simultaneously to ensure the secure transmission and authentication of data.
