The Study Of The Vertex Chain Code And Its Application

Chain code techniques are widely used in the boundary of the domain for they preserve information and allow considerable data reduction. A chain code which is called Vertex Chain Code which invariable under translation and rotation and may be starting point normalized and invariant under mirroring transformation, so it is a good application in image recognition and processing.In this paper, we discuss some new characters of vertex chain code, and according to these characters, a simple algorithm for getting the area of the domain is given. A new algorithm is proposed to get vertex chain code of domains from its Freeman chain code and vice versa, then we discuss the relationship between the two kinds of chain codes. As a result, the image can be reconstructed from the vertex chain code easily.At the end of this paper, the original procedures in Visual C++ on computer for all examples mentioned are given.
