Research On Security And Application Of Mobile IP

More and more people wish to access to Internet anytime and anywhere. The traditional fixed access cannot meet this requirement. The emergence of Mobile IP makes the mobile Internet possible. Mobile IP is a mobile solution on the network layer. More and more attentions are paid to the security and the application of Mobile IP technology.In this dissertation, some security issues of Mobile IP protocol are discussed in detail, and how to integrate Mobile IP into the current network technology securely and efficiently is also discussed. First, the origin and the evolvement of Mobile IP are introduced, the rationale of Mobile IP is expatiated, and the current research state and the long term potential of Mobile IP are summarized briefly. Second, the security mechanism of Mobile IP is introduced and the security threats which Mobile IP may suffer from are analyzed. Then several representative security solutions of Mobile IP are discussed, and their merits or shortcomings are compared briefly. Aiming at the incompatibleness of Mobile IP and IPSec, a new scheme is presented. In this scheme, Mobile IP can cooperate with IPSec based VPN gateway harmoniously. Aiming at the security and the roaming issues existed in IEEE802.11 based WLAN, a secure roaming scheme for WLAN integrated of Mobile IP is presented.
