Multimedia synchronization is a special and important QoS (Quality of Service) in multimedia systems. As a key technology in multimedia communications, research on multimedia synchronization has received a wide range of attention in the recent years. This paper mainly deals with multimedia synchronization. Firstly, the multimedia synchronization is introduced. Then, a comparison of multimedia synchronization between FIFO model and audio-first model is given, and a novel H.323 terminal model for multiplexing audio and video is proposed. Furthermore, we packet the video data according to the maximum fragment size(MFS), and analyze its effect on the jitter of audio-packet and video-packet respectively. Finally, the scheme of multimedia synchronization is presented, including synchronization transmission at the transmitter and synchronization display at the receiver. Simulation results show that real-time multimedia synchronization communication can be implemented by the presented technology, which has been used in practice.
