The Application Research On Image Retrieval Technology Based On The Histogram Of Color

In recent years, with the rapid development of Internet, the multimedia information is booming. All this information is mostly images. In the face of the immensity of information, people are eager to acquire information needed rapidly and efficiently. Effective recognizing, management and searching all these images has been an emergent problem.The retrieval technique of content-based image database is a focus of query technology studying nowadays, many institutes being engaged in this project have obtained some achievements home and abroad. On the base of widely referring to the material about Content Based Image Retrieval (CBIR), the condition of image retrieval technical based on the Content and matching algorithms of image likeness were discussed in this paper.Within the image retrieval based on the content, the color, being an important vision characteristic of image, have been used broadly. This paper have discussed three key questions on how to make use of the characteristic of color, which included expressing color, obtaining the characteristic of color and measuring the likeness based on color.Aimed at static image retrieval based on color, a multimedia image database which included three layers was designed and the search algorithm of the correlation and polymerization histogram was used in the article. To show color characteristic of image, the method of the HSB(Hue, Saturation, Brightness) color space, which is suitable to the visual characteristic of human, is utilized. Taking advance of human's feeling to color, it quantifies color sector with unequal interval, and get characteristic vector. Finally, it matched the similarity of image with the distance function.In the Windows 2000 environment, the image retrieval demo system, which was based on the image color characteristic and used the search algorithm of the correlation and polymerization histogram, was implemented with JAVA programming language and MySQL Database Management System. Users can express their searching demands through the example mode.The paper holds certain referential value and practical significance in promoting the development of retrieval technique of image database.
