With the development of the personal computer and network, e-business has made a great progress. As a result, the security of e-business becomes an issue and people pay more and more attention to information security. In the security field, random number generator has important applications such as generating the key or the parameters of the encryption. Because the pseudo random numbers are periodic and predictable, in the field of encryption, we must choose the unpredictable, truly random numbers to guarantee the security of the information.It is widely accepted that the core of any truly random number generator (TRNG) must be an intrinsically random physical process. For example, using the noise to generate truly random numbers. With the development of the theory of nonlinear systems, the behavior of chaos has provided new theory foundation and realization for TRNG. If you can find a generation partition in the chaos space, then you can guarantee the truly characteristic of random numbers generated by mapping in the state space. Because the truly characteristic of random numbers can't be proved by testing the chip, it's very important to guarantee it in the theory.TRNG can be a element of the SoC (System-on-Chip) design by developing it as a IP (Intellectual Property) which is used by the encryption modules. However, SoC/IP must comply with the protocol of bus to communicate with others smoothly. As a result, it is necessary to add a digital interface to TRNG which is realized by analog circuit. Then, TRNG becomes a mixed-signal design.The design flow of a mixed-signal circuit is complicated. Design flow of analog circuit begins with drawing schematic and includes simulation, layout, DRC/LVS check, parasitic extraction and post-simulation. The digital one includes SPEC, Verilog coding, simulation, synthesis, floorplan, routeing, static timing analyze and DRC/LVS check. The mixed-signal flow should realize the communication between the digital circuit and analog one. It includes mixed-signal simulation, integration of the layout of digital and analog circuit, parasitic extraction and post-simulation. Taking the design and realization of TRNG as reference, this thesis make detail introduce of the three kinds of design flow.
