Research On The Technology For Integrating Document Database And Relational Database In Office Information System

Beginning with the analysis to the values and present status of the research of OSI (Office Information System) that requires supporting both from document database and relational database, the authors introduce the features of document database and relational database, and points out the similarities and differences between the two.After evaluating two approaches to integrated platforms, we recommend integrating office automation system based on Lotus Domino/Notes with rational database. We think of this policy as the basic principle to develop such OIS. Subsequently, we compare the data exchange interfaces between the document database and relational database, and choose the LS:DO as the interface.In the last main part of this article, we discuss the critical technical problems, such as the system security and the authority control, the document transmission, the consistency of data, and present corresponding solutions. We validate the solutions by realizing several examples.We summarize some effective experience and schemes, which have great values in developing similar projects for the future. Using these schemes, the two kinds of databases can complement each other and improve the efficiency finally.
