The paper presents a detailed scheme on judging whether a hip joint is ordinary or not automatically. Based on the scheme, an application software has been programmed and developed. Some of novel algorithms are also proposed in the paper. Based on existing Hough transform, the paper proposed a new fast Hough transform which takes advantage of low computational complexity, economical memory. Furthermore, the method is also applicable to the irregular circular arcs containing noise. Based on the principal of fuzzy clustering, the paper puts forward a new method for extracting circular arcs on curves. The proposed method can extract circular arcs accurately, and has been applied to extracting arcs on hipbones contour. Applying Hough transform to detection of sphere for the first time, the paper successfully obtains the parameter of fitting sphere of cubic hipbones.
