The paper studies three key problem of base station array antenna for mobile communication, controlled radiation pattern, beam width and passive intermodulation. The array antenna is optimized used genetic algorithm. PI algorithm is used in genetic algorithm. The results are given. The results are used in the design of array antennas, which prove validated. Based on the requirement, a base station array antenna of which beam width in H-plane is 45 is made. The relationship between the size and the performance of array antenna is researched. The antenna is tested and is proved eligible. The intermodulation of antenna is studied. The mathematics model for three-order intermodulation is given. The power level of three-order intermodulation is tested. The mathematics model is validated. The way in technics is given to reduce the power level of three-order intermodulation.
