With the development of Aerospace Science, especially the appearance of high speed attack weapons such as guided missile, radar is required to not only discover and track the target in further distance but also command plane and missile to head off the target. Electronic Scan Array is a new antenna system on the foundation of array antenna adapt to the requirement. Array antennas can realize complicated pattern through adding every antenna's spacial response. A main mission of antenna pattern synthesis is to determine the array's excitation coefficients. This can be realized with lots of methods. The paper applies genetic algorithm (GA) to antenna pattern synthesis. The existing pattern synthesis methods are combined with GA to antenna pattern synthesis. GA is an optimization algorithm which simulates the heredity and evolution of biology. It bases on the evaluation of adaptability, and uses probability searching technology to find out the problem's satisfying solution. It has been proved valid through the simulation example.The investigation item of Active Electronic Scan Array (AESA) is put forward in the'Fifteen'project. The main feature of AESA is to adaptive produce null in the pattern by weight control of elements in the array. The paper summarize the existing adaptive producing null method including only by amplitude control, only by phase control and by both of them control. The paper analyzes the features of all the methods and proceeds further improvement. For the first time a hybrid optimized algorithm based on differential evolution and GA and little perturbation method are combined to produce the nulls in the pattern by amplitude and phase control of elements in the array of elements on a triangle lattice. The simulating results prove that meet request basically.
