Vision motion analysis is a theory and method with which we can extract motion and structure from a series of images. This technology is consists in a lot of subjects such as computer vision, artificial intelligence, and processing of image, and it is applied to industry and military fields extensively.Tasks such as searching resource, craft navigation, weather prediction, vision system of robot, apparatus analysis and diagnosis, all use optical flow as input information. In this paper, we present a method of compute line-optical-flow from the real images and synthesized images. Then determine the motion and structure from line-optical-flow. The stability of line fitting with the discrete points is studied in this paper. A new approach for determining the motion and structure is proposed that use the method of resolve nonlinear equations. We introduced the current situation about two kinds of methods of visual motion analysis: the feature-based and the optical flow-based method, and point out some problems that have not been solved. Present the line-optical-flow concept according to optical flow based on point; unify the form of line and curve optical flow in parameter coordinates; study a series process of digital image processing, analysis the merit and shortcoming in every processing; use median filter which is simple and reliable to remove the noise of images; To get the edge of the scene, Sobel operator is used in my paper which can not get single-pixel thread; Deustch method can make edge thinner; then the image will be composed of some single-pixel lines. In the image processing, we can extract parameter of these threads through two different ways get these parameters: Hough transform for straight line; matrix generalized inverse method perform well in curve fitting; after these process, the stability of line extracted can be measured effective with covariance matrix eigenvalue. On the base of line-optical-flow, we established the equation with which we can compute the movement and structure parameters of a moving object in the three-dimensional scene. When apply the way of solve nonlinear equations, we only need 6 equations compare with 21 to solve rotate parameters. This thesis is the project supported by Aeronautical Foundation Science (No.99F53065) and Research Center of Measuring and Testing Technoloies, and Control Engineering in Nanchang Institute of Aeronautical Technology(No.2001-1 5).
