A airfoil blade is one of the most important workpiece in aircraft's engines. In aircraft's engines, it takes the key pole of energy transfer. Because the shape of blade is complex and the forming precision is very high, the die making needs more high precision. The designing and fabrication of blade is one of the most important research direction in the field of aviation internationally.Blade forging is a kind of important processing method in all of those because of its special superiority. Now as the rapid development of computer technique, the technique of computer aided design and computer aided manufacture (CAD/CAM) have been used widely in the blade manufacturing.Unigraphics is the most advanced and closed integral CAD/CAM/CAE software in the field of manufacturing industry. Its open architecture permits the user to design application program to expand new function. A special system of blade modeling and die designing has been exploited with the help of UG(V17), which is programmed in UG/Open GRIP lauguage. The main content is as below:The data of the blade surface is transferred to that of the corresponding forging blade surface by elongating the blade on the tip and on the root, expanding the surface of the blade, extending the blade on both sides, calculating the blance angle. Then the forging blade body is formed by fitting the data of forging blade to spline and B-surface, calling the rabbet and boss, generating the draft angle. Then the related parameter is calculated. According to the requirement of die designing, the die parting face and the gutter is designed. By Boolean calculation, the blocker, finisher , cut-off die and stripper are generated. Finally, the interface of UG is exploited, which is characterized by common use, higher design efficiency and friendly user interface. The system is worth spreading for its wide applibility, friendly user interface and simple operating .
