With the development of optical fiber network, it makes a higher requirement of photonic devices. All optical network (AON) will be the main physical carrier in the future, the development of photonic devices will be the key technology to realize AON. The technique of fiber grating made the research, manufacture and integration of all optical fiber devices possible, so fiber grating will act an important part in AON. The applications have caused people's great interest and enthusiasm such as optical switch, optical add/drop multiplexer, and optical fiber's dispersion compensator, etc. Using transfer matrix method and procedure of numerical analysis, the paper analyze theoretically that how grating's parameters influence sampled gratings' reflective spectrum. The results we calculate agree well with the experimental results that other people published. Through numerical analyzing we know that the reflective spectrums of sampled grating have very good wavelength selectivity. There exist multiple channels in the reflective spectrums, the spaces between the channels are stable, and the bandwidths are narrow. So when dealing with optical information it has much important application. The designers of communication system pay much attention to it. The theoretical calculation and numerical analyses in the paper can prefer reference for new type of photonic devices' (based on sampled grating) application in optical fiber communication system. It brings infinite prospect and hope for people come into all optical informational era. The outline is as follows:1) The basically theory for sampled grating.2) Using transfer matrix method we make numerical analyses for the reflective spectrum of sampled grating and get the rules how grating's parameters influence the reflective spectrum.3) The new types of photonic devices based on sampled grating: multiple wavelength laser , wavelength multiplexer/demultiplexer, reconfigurable optical add/drop multiplexer, optical fiber sensor, and multiple channels dispersion compensator.I have four research papers in aforementioned fields that have been published in <<.Tournal of Optoelectronics ?Laser>>,<>,<>,<>.
