Multi-Thoughts Of Reports On Weak Group

The Weak group is not a new problem. It exits in any stage of societies of any type. In transitional China today, however, the problem becomes all the more serious. As a special industry, media is not only influenced by the rules of social ideology, but also influenced by its own rules and the rules of market. On one hand, as a public tool of society, media should pay enough attention on the weak group of society. On the other hand, media, as an industry whose aim is also profit maximization, is bound to put priority on those who can facilitate them to reach this goal. This, accordingly, leads to an inadequate attention on the weak group owing to their lack of purchase ability. This has long been a dilemma. Since the weak group belongs to one or more classes located at the bottom or edge of society, it is different from other groups of society. As a result, reports on the weak group are also quite different.This paper is to analyze the reports on the weak group from different perspectives. It consists of five parts. Firstly, it will analyze disadvantages of the principle that target customers are the most important things in mass media. It argues that humanism should be emphasized in these reports. Secondly, it will focus on the characteristics of press supervision on the weak group, ethical deviation in the reports, and the negative effects due to over-emphasis on the propaganda value. The development of reports on weak group will also be discussed in this part. Thirdly, with industrialization of mass media, weak group tends to be forgotten by the press. This essay will discuss this tendency from four different angles-the positioning of the mass media, foreign investment on this industry, the rules of advertisement, and the embarrassing identity of weak group. Fourthly, from the viewpoint of civilians, some of the media's changing attitudes towards weak group will be discussed. In the end of this paper, it will forecast the future of reports on the weak group. Finally, owing to the special identity in a society, although weak group will be paid more attention to by the press, it will not yet be the central topics in the mess media.
