Flame Detector, which scans the flame health on-line, is the core part of Furnace Safeguard Supervisory System (FSSS). Its properly work can make the boiler safe and efficiency. But nowadays, partly because the process of burning is still intricacy and partly because the localization of old method, the traditional Flame Detector is far away from satisfied.In this article, on the basis of investigation on the traditional ways of flame detect, and analyzed the problem of some well known fire safeguard products, we bring forward a new method to detect boiler flame, and practically established our own Flame Detector, which we called Vulcan-I to validate our theories. The new Flame Detector is based on modern Measurement Science, it use high-performance spectral estimation and neural network to perform pattern recognition, to compared with traditional Flame Detector, the new kind of Flame Detector have self-adaptive > self-learning abilities, and gains higher accuracy ?In our experimentation, the new method of flame detect is performances well than traditional ways. This proves that the use of modem Measurement Science can improve system's performances.
