With the rapid development of network technology, there are more and more distributed applications needed. However, the variety of network technology and heterogeneity of platform make distributed applications difficult.Recently, design pattern attracts great attention of the experts in software engineering. It aims at effectively solving how to reuse software design strategies, exerting great effort in collect excellent software designs and providing software designers with brochures like other engineering fields. In this thesis, theory of design pattern is studied and extended in distributed environment. With this, the author put forward a distributed network model and applied it to the design of Trobus, a distributed middleware product. In this thesis, the author firstly analyze the problems existing in distributed applications, make an outline of the theory of design pattern, including the origin of the discipline, the definitions and elements of patterns, the description forms. Then multi-layer pattern, one of architecture patterns, is illuminated in detail. By combining it with the characteristics of distributed applications, the network model for distributed applications is brought forward. Pertinent materials about this are rarely found in the related domestic documents. As far as the application is concerned, the author has successfully applied the model to design the TroBus System with independent knowledge property right, which provides a new way to design other kinds of middleware. The system is compatible with CORBA V2.3 Specification and its corresponding Service Specification, whose version is relatively advanced. Therefore, its starting point is fairly high. Furthermore, it has passed several typical case tests and is being commercialized. The framework of OMA and the model's adaptability in it are expounded in the fourth chapter. During the development of the TroBus System, the author has taken part in the system general design, taken charge of designing and implementing the IIOP sub-system and the Naming Service sub-system architecture.
