In hot mill production the slabs have to be heated to a certain degree of temperature, so that the slabs would be more plastic and easier to be rolled. Strip quality, products quantity, energy consumption and the life of mill equipments will be directly influenced by the quality of heating .A proper heating technology will ensure a successful production, on the contrary, an unreasonable heating, such as over heating or un-even temperature distribution, may influence with product quality directly. This is the reason why the furnace temperature control is one of the most important links in hot strip rolling.Firstly, a briefly introducing is given to the computer optimum model which have being used in slab temperature control in furnace .at the same time, it also points out the defect of the model by means of analyzing controlling process, then a theory is formed that could achieve the control of self-adapting. It's made possible by calculating the out-going temperature of furnace according to the measured temperature of Roughing Mill.Secondly, the temperature variation of slab is analyzed to the stage of furnace to Roughing Mill in detail and the whole temperature decreasing process is divided into three basic parts: temperature decreased by air-cooling, water-cooling and the temperature variation during rolling process .Then it briefly introduces the basic theories and knowledge of heat transferring.Thirdly regarding the temperature decreasing model as the core of this article ,a detailed description is given to the building of each part in mathematic model which include the relationship of surface temperature and average temperature of slab, the equation about temperature decreasing caused by air-cooling, by descaling water and temperature variation in rolling process.Then a corresponding calculation flow chart is given according to the temperature decreasing equation and the effectiveness of this chart is demonstrated by the actual data and records in production.In order to realize self-adapting function and reach the optimal result of target temperature, a factor-sliding method is used to control the difference of temperature calculated by self-adapting model and optimum control system respectively .Then o prove the validity of control process ,the production result with self-adapting has been compared to the result without self-adapting.Finally this article summarized the whole procedure and working and point out the existing problems that could be improved in the future so as to get the best effect in actual production.
