Exploring Image Compression: LZW Algorithm And Quotient-Remainder Image

By exploring the LZW image compression algorithm,we developed the concepts of "quotient image" and "remainder image". Many interesting properties of "quotient image" and "remainder image" were revealed by the investigation of LZW and these two special images. Based on the research we present two modified image compression methods. The experimental results show that the modified methods are good in improving image compression ratio to some extent.
