Mophological Lifting Wavelets , Adaptive Lifting Scheme and Their Application in Image ProcessingBased on set operations, Mathematical Morphology(MM) possesses some specialities, such as nonlinearity which we can utilize in image processing. At the same time, classical wavelet transform(CWT) has been a strong tool in signal processing. But it is not proper for CWT to be used in nonlinear field because it is based on traditional fourier transform.On the other hand, the Lifting Scheme, also called Second Generation Wavelet, was put forward by Wim Sweldens recently. It makes possible the build of nonlinear wavelet.In this thesis, one kind of new lifting scheme is introduced first, and some applications are given in image segmentation fields. Then a new kind of adaptive lifting scheme is proposed together with its application in certain special field, such as detail-holding in multi-scale analysis.The Matlab programs of the arithmetic are given at the end of the thesis.
