To simulate artworks creation through computer techniques is one of the methods of using information techniques to promulgate, understand and create culture. On the base of understanding, analysis and learning the style characteristics of digitalized cultural relics, we simulate artists'thinking mode during the process of appreciating and creating pattern in order to create new artworks. Artworks created through this way, not only possess the similar style and specialty, but also is the improvement and sublimation of cultural relics. Therefore, this process develops the useful and discards the useless. It is also culture sublimation, culture creation based on culture understanding and one of the applicable methods to spread and develop cultural relics. Artworks creation is an advanced mental phenomenon and it relates to some complicated mental action. So it is difficult to simulate this process only by logic thinking of traditional computer graphics and image processing. In order to make up this shortcoming, we combine visual thinking and intelligence techniques with knowledge of graphics and image to simulate the creation process, which is made up of both of logic thinking and visual thinking, and uses not only a lot of precise formula but also plenty of experience knowledge. Firstly, we analyzed the process of artworks appreciation and creation, made research on the style characteristics of artworks especially painting and calligraphy, define and represent the style knowledge and present two creation-thinking model: Synthesis Reasoning Model and Case-based Reasoning Model. Secondly. we apply object contour extraction in color image based on dynamic programming method and the color abstract methods based on color layer and color composition in an image. to get style knowledge of artworks in order to begin a new creation. The complicated and time-consuming process of getting basic cells, which are the basic components of artworks creation, is an obstacle of the creation process. In order to solve this problem, we introduce Synthesis Reasoning Model and present the method of synthetic generation of artworks element based on eigenvector. This method can use the visual information of acquired artworks elements. under some special requests, to produce new ones rapidly or transform them to other conformations. which will amplify greatly the resource of artworks elements and resolve forenamed problem at a certain extent. Color is also one of the most important ingredients, so we should also supply functions of color changing. Because it is difficult to use precise formula to express Munsell color harmony theory, we introduce Case-based Reasoning Model, which is intuitionistic and adaptable with visual thinking. Firstly, we represent and abstract the color harmony knowledge of artworks based on color theory. Secondly we give the method how to get the color harmony scheme of the target artwork through analogy mapping and analogy transition. Then we harmonize the target artwork and make its color consistent and continuous. This method can not only be an important part in automatic generating artworks, but also work alone for studying color composition of famous paintings, and then use the knowledge to new designing. According to the above research result, we design and develop the Intelligence Pattern Creation System based on Style Template.
