The flying shear is a machine, which is used to cut strip steel in motion across. The cutting precision is directly influencing the end product quality of the thin cold rolling board. By analyzing and applying the fixed ruler automatic control technology, we can fully use the achievements of modern science and technology development to improve the cutting precision, and achieves the purpose to raise the competitive ability in the product market.On the foundation of digesting and absorbing the imported technology, regarding the UNGERER flying shear, which one WISCO imported in the 90's, as the research object, this paper has analyzed the character, the robustness and the modular realization of the system using the position servo control, and put forward the method of the system fault diagnosis.Starting with the servo system structure of the UNGERER flying shear, the paper combines the modern control theory with the classics, analyses the robustness problem to the flying shear control system. Using the position servo control, the system monitors the knife position by the position control unit DDS-CR which CPU is build in, regards the position controller as the robustness regulator of system, to control the shear action according to the knife position. The DC GTR PWM chopper control technique is used in regulating the speed control of the shear servomotor. The system realizes the robustness as well as can assure the cutting precision.The modular units form the control apparatus adjusting the UNGERER flying shear control system. The module self-diagnostic ability makes the system is easy to maintain and use.By combining my work experience with the system self-diagnostic ability, find the analysis and diagnosis methods of the system fault. According to the characteristic of the control system, the paper put forward the thought and the improvement scheme of system when the flying shear system occurs the fixed ruler fault. The implementation of these methods improves and makes perfect the system function; the production practice has proved that, the product quality has been ensured, and has effectively reduced the fault rate of equipment.
