An Automated System For Mosaicking SAR Imagery

In recent years, SAR has been an effective sensor of planet imaging and earth observation because of its abilities in large-area imaging, working on whole climate and whole day, and strong penetration. The SAR technology application potentiality in many fields has also raised all the attention from the world and SAR technology has become the focus of world research in earth observation. This study is mainly on SAR images processing, such as the display, registration and mosaic.In this thesis, after a brief introduction of history of SAR development and application, the key techniques of images mosaic and theirs own common algorithms are introduced. Then the methods of building my programming system are given and an SAR images auto-mosaic system is established. The main achievements are as follows:1) Display large remote sensing images of different data types and bands quickly.2) A standard stretch is applied while display, making images show better.3) Image roams and zooms.4) Searching the images control points automatically and the precision can reach sub-pixel level.5) Image resample. 6) Multi-type mosaic. 7) A detailed help system.
