Human brain is known as the most complicated material in the universe. Many techniques have been developed which allow non-invasive diagnosis of brain conditions. But a small, low cost, portable brain system is still not available. In recent years, a new type of medical imaging technology, which is called Electrical Impedance Tomography, has aroused extensive interest of researchers at home and abroad. It has its own advantages at these aspects. Here we applied this technology to do some research on the electrical characteristics of 2D head model. The present study was supported by the project of National Natural Science Foundation of China. "3D Dynamic Imaging of Brain Electrical Activity".The main work was as follows:(1)The simulation software package has been worked out which can automatically dissect the circle region and more fit for the characteristic of EIT solution of the head model.(2)Using FEM simulation software package, EIT forward problem of 2D head model could be solved and the scalp potential could be figured out when brain conductivity varies.(3)Using the equipotential line back-projection algorithm and threshold method, the author reconstructed image correctly, simply and quickly.(4)Using real acquisition data, the author reconstructed the images with exact orientation which certified the correctness of the algorithm and the simulation software.
