The principles of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) and its applications in Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) are introduced in this paper, based on the overview of the outline and standard of WLAN. The implementation of OFDM base-band processing system, characterized by 16-QAM (Quadrature Amplitude Modulation) and 64 sub-carriers, is paid more attention. A feasible FPGA design scheme based on the principles of SoC(System on a Chip) and the design method of "Top-down" is proposed. The key modules, including FFT/ IFFT, QAM map/demap, are realized and verified by function simulation and logic synthesis carried out on EDA platforms. Finally, all the modules are integrated to establish a fundamental OFDM base-band processing system.
