Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) is a kind of new imaging radar. High-resolution radar image can be obtained by using SAR under all weather, day and night and long distance conditions. It is a branch of radar technology and a research emphasis, so it has high value in military and civil applications. We study the R-D imaging algorithm, in accordance with the National Defense Preliminary Research Project. In the introduction to this dissertation, the developments, theories and applications of SAR are reviewed briefly. The main contribution of my study is also summarized here.Chapter 1 concisely introduces the principle of SAR, the resolution of range direction and azimuth direction, result of the impulse compression, the principle model and application of SAR.In chapter 2, the R-D imaging algorithm is studied, and then we can know well it through the imaging of point target. In chapter 3, the real time data is imaged in the R-D algorithm. At first, we compress the signal in range and azimuth direction respectively, at the time of the processing; we will deal with RCMC in R-D domain. Then we image in the modified R-D algorithm, the result of images will be compared. In the end, we analyze the advantage and the disadvantage of R-D algorithm andexplain the possible future work.
