Personalized Web Site System

My graduate thesis is Personalized Web Site System , which is a part of the 863 Project Knowledge Discovery Methods and it :c Application and is also supported by Sinosports Company. With the explosive growth of Internet and e-commence, World Wide Web is dramatically changing our lives. Because more business transactions and services are carried out over the WWW, better services for the need of Web-based applications and understanding the action of customers become the focus of much attention today. In order to solve the problems of relationship between customers and providers, more and more Web-based companies begin to provide personalized services for the customers. This paper describes a personalized web site system we developed on the basis of the structure of the web site of Sinosports Company. By creatively using the principles of Web Usage Mining and the algorithm of mining sequential patterns, the system can provide personalized web-based applications for the customers. In this paper, the design and implementation of the personalized web site system are described and we especially focus on the algorithm of mining sequential patterns. At present, most algorithms of mining sequential patterns are based on the hyperlinks of web pages. Ours is based on the content of the web pages as well, and mines deeper sequential patterns. There are still very few systems in the world which can mines sequential patterns utilizing the content of the web pages.
