Modem NM demands the flexibility convenience andeffectiveness, but also the intelligeni featUrs: autonomy, self adaPtability cooperation andmobi1ity The aPPlication of MA (Mobile agent) technology to the area of NM canovercome drawbacks of triditional NM to meet requirements of management of largecomPlex netWorks.The first section of this dissertation briefly describes the SNMP-based NM frameworkand the distributed NM. Then, the second section studies the key funtion and architectUreof IA Unelligent Agent) and MA. At last, this PaPer discusses its aPPlication in NM and putfOrwars a new NM franework, which based on the MA mechamsm. hi the newframework, netWOrk manager selects proper agent prograxn according to network state andmanagemen thek, distributes it to the remote host. The MA fulfilIs the expected taSk locallyon the remotC host with an agellt execution environment. Thus it can An prove the responseand relieve NMS's burden. A detaiIed twlementation of NM scheme based on MA is alsodescribed and discussed.
