First this thesis introduces the principle, characteristics and development of LFMCW radar in China and other countries. Then the relation between the frequency modulation linearity and the radar range resolution of LFMCW radar is analyzed. A new linearization algorithm for LFMCW signals is presented. Based on the algorithm, the hardware and software of linearization system is designed. A digital real-time closed-loop linearization scheme is used to develop a X band high linearity signal source. The linearity is improved to be up to 0.01%. Using this theme, the system is more simple and the linearity after linearization is higher than those using traditional analog scheme. A linearization experiment has been made on a 8mm LFMCW Radar System. The result can certify that the radar range resolution is greatly improved by the linearization. The X band LFMCW signal source has been used on LFMCW radar in the 20111 Research Institute of Information Industry Ministry with a good result.
