Function Of The Government In The Construction Of City Culture

As the collecting and distributing centre of stream of people, material wealth and information, the city has its own unique character, city culture, which is the sediment of mutual functions of all kinds of essential factors in the development of the city. With the development of the urbanization process, the important role of city culture becomes more and more obvious, which indicates the standard of the modernization of the city. The development of city culture can promote the economy. Therefore, more and more cities pay more attention to the construction of city culture. The city has given prominence to the distinctive feature gradually, thus the unique culture source has been formed finally. As the constructor and executor of the city culture, the government has so important a role that it influences the direction and the effect of the development of city culture. The government is supposed to have a proper plan and establish its own brand name of the city. Especially in the period of government transformation when the culture function is entrusted to meaning of new times, it is the responsibility for the government to take various active measures and to offer support for the better development of city culture so that the pace of city modernization will be stepped up by the construction of city culture.The thesis begins with the illustration of the concept of city culture, and then the contents and the necessity of the construction of city culture is analyzed. At last, the author summarizes the function of the government in the construction of city culture. By analyzing the problems in the case, it is proposed that the government should enhance its leading function, solve the problems with clear aims and seek out effective approaches to establishing brand name of the city before the characteristic culture system is established.
