Research On Technological System And Cultural Features Of Pingyao Xin Boxing

Pingyao Xin boxing is a rare kind of Chinese boxing in the national traditional martial arts. In 1980s, the researching and arranging work had been done to the traditional martial arts in nationwide, which meticulously sorted out various routines of Chinese boxing. However, due to the influence of traditional ideas, the folk professional pugilists often had reservation, which affected the integrity of the researching and arranging work。Based on the previous researches, this research further explores and consummates Chinese Xin Boxing.First of all, the production time of Xin boxing has not been resolved, because the records of relevant information hasn't been found, therefore, we can only initiated the research from Erlang Deity Boxing, the original name of Xin Boxing. The folk worship of Erlang Deity Boxing originated from the region of Sichuan in Song dynast, spreaded to Fujian by the end of Song dynast. During Yuan Dynasty, the worship of Erlang Deity was replaced by the worship of Matsu in Fujian, but Erlang Deity Temple was preserved. During the Ming Dynasty, after fighting against Japanese pirates, some of the monks from North Shaolin Temple stayed at South Shaolin Temple in Fujian, at the same time, they developed Erlang Deity Boxing. This solved the old saying about Erlang Deity Boxing that "Dharma old patriarch had Nine generation legacy, Southern Shaolin Temple was located in Outian, Fujian", also solved the problem that Xin Boxing is out of Southern Shaolin but has a style of Northern Shaolin boxing. The research adopts the logical analysis combining historical documents investigation and fieldwork investigation, it defines the production time of Xin Boxing in the medium-term of Ming dynast. The research analyzes the spectrum of Xin Boxing finished in 1980s, then confirms that Erlang Deity Boxing had been changed into Xin Boxing was approximately in the epoch of Xianfeng emperor during Qing dynast.Second, the research interviews the boxers among the people to find the fashion and principle of Xin Boxing. It also looks into the literature, through the analysis of another boxing spectrum, it sorts out the ninth chapter of Xin Boxing; through the depiction of the bodyguard career of historical figure Wang Zhengsheng, it analyzes the relationship between Xin Boxing and Escort during Qing dynast, and looks into the inheritance of Xin Boxing. Then it gets the reason why Xin Boxing becomes a rare kind of Chinese boxing.Finally, the research proposes some feasible suggestions for the future development of Xin Boxing. The declaration of non-material cultural heritage increases the visibility of Xin Boxing, it breaks the traditional thinking to promote the fitness and health ideas of Xin Boxing; with deep cultural content, it exerts a favorable influence on individual sentiment; with excellent routines and principles, it strengthens individual physique. Based on the local tourism economy, we will gradually promote Xin Boxing.
