Teaching profession is a special job,it is not only about the future development of teachers themselves,but also about the long-term future of students.Is a professional that touch life with life,water soul with soul.The importance of their professional identity depends on the particularities of the teaching profession.Currently there are two status of teaching profession,one is response to the life career of needs,the other is realize the value of life with a professional.Some studies show that many teachers are the first state now.It is especially prominent in elementary and secondary teachers of rural areas.In recent years,although the great importance is attached to the rural education by our party and nation,the great effort has made in improving the status and the treatment for rural teachers.Rural teacher's wages, working conditions,social status have also been improved gradually.But compared to other industries or urban teachers,rural teacher's social statu and treatment are still low. Some rural areas teachers regard teaching profession as a means of livelihood.Most of them to be teachers for surviving.Some rural teachers feel their work boring,and even has lost interest and enthusiasm on theri work.Just busy work for external ethics requirements.Once they can't get the satisfaction of reward,honor,titles or positions,is easy to lose their professional identity.So some of these teachers either leave the current workplace to seek a better environment and space where they can realize their self-value;or become lazy and apathetic,teaching mechanically and repeatly without creative activities only for a fixed monthly income.Rural school teachers are the special groups which have a higher level of educati- on but work in rural areas.They are the professional experience of urban education and rural education's huge imbalance under urban-rural dual structure.Secondary school teachers in rural areas reflect the problems involve more than one side of rural education in China.In order to evaluate China's rural secondary school teacher's professional identity status,The author conducted a survey based on some rural secondary schools'education by using questionnaire.The preliminary results show that: China's rural secondary school teachers's overall level of career identity is in the low. More rural teachers to be teachers for surviving, not because of devotion of education. The differences on gender,age,seniority,job,education esixt in teaching profession identity obviously.The China's rural teachers's professional identity has yet to be further enhanced.It is necessery to take active measures to enhance the professional identity of rural teachers to promote the professional development of teachers.These measures include raising the professional status of teachers in rural schools,adjusting the basic structure of rural school teachers,Establishing and perfecting the mechanism for the rational flow of rural secondary school teachers,Building a teacher culture as people-oriented,strengtheningruralsecondary school teachers in their self-improvement and so on.
